One thing I really love to do after a fabulous red carpet event is to compare the celebrity looks with the runway looks.
Here are last night’s red carpet gowns from the 2013 Golden Globe Awards.
On the left is a photo from the Fall 2012 Dior Couture runway show and next to it is Jennifer Lawrence in the gown on the red carpet.
The black belt Jennifer is wearing accentuates the waste and breaks up the long bodice on the gown. The drop waist really elongates the model’s torso, and there really isn’t a waist definition. Jennifer Lawrence gets the points on this one.
Isla Fisher looks stunning in Reem Acra on the right with the runway look from the 2013 Resort collection on the left.
This is really a toss up for me. Both looks are elegant, and while the gown fits differently on the two women, both look great!
The model on the left is wearing Giorgio Armani at the Spring 2013 RTW runway show and Olivia Munn is on the right.
This is definitely a more casual dress option then what we usually look for at the Golden Globes, but I like the way Olivia’s look is dressed up a little more with the Chopard jewels and elegant clutch.
Jessica Alba, on the right, looks beautiful in a mermaid Oscar de la Renta gown and on the left is the model wearing the gown at the Spring RTW 2013 runway show.
Jessica Alba looks a little more put together than the model, mainly with the hair style. The soft curls work great with the gown’s style, and the Harry Winston jewels are the final touch that make me favor the celebrity look over the runway look.
What looks do you favor? Runway or Red Carpet?
I think in every case, the celebrity looks better, mostly because they have more natural bodies and makeup! Plus, isn’t the point of runway shows to show off the dress/outfit, not the model herself? So the celebrities are rockin the styles just as a part of it all 🙂
The mermaid silhouette is nothing new, but the elegant asymmetry below the knee and the gown’s light coral hue were enchanting.
Who could have predicted that this year’s Golden Globes would offer as much sartorial eye candy as they did? Mermaid silhouettes were a big trend with Sofia Vergara, Reese Witherspoon, Kyle Richards, and Paula Patton among those opting for the figure grazing shape in bold monochrome hues. Mermaid silhouette aside, most of the stars opted for form-fitting monochrome dresses with one notable exception, Rooney Mara, who walked the red carpet in a black Nina Ricci Pre-Fall 2012 gown with a plunging neckline, cut-outs, and bow detailing.
